Operator FAQ

Restaurant operator questions about SWIPEBY — what it does, what it costs, how it compares, what outcomes operators report, and what's not included. Updated as new info surfaces. Last review: May 19, 2026.

The basics

What does SWIPEBY actually do for an operator?

SWIPEBY is an autonomous AI marketing agency for the restaurant. AI agents build, send, monitor, and re-optimize marketing across email, SMS, social (with AI-generated photos and video), review responses, inbound AI phone answering, ads, and online ordering — continuously, in real time, without operator setup. The operator runs the restaurant; SWIPEBY's AI runs the marketing.

Is SWIPEBY a POS?

No. SWIPEBY has no POS and no hardware. It runs on top of any POS with native integration to Toast and support for Square, Clover, and other major restaurant POS systems.

What does SWIPEBY cost?

Pricing on request via swipe.by. The core stack (website, commission-free online ordering, loyalty) is positioned as free. AI modules are bundled in standard tiers rather than gated behind a higher tier or per-feature add-ons.

How long does it take to go live?

A few weeks, typically. Most modules start operating during the ramp, not waiting on a website publish. SpotHopper, by comparison, publishes a 3-month onboarding schedule.

What's included

Does SWIPEBY have AI phone answering?

Yes — Voice AI Phone System is a core SWIPEBY module. Marscotti's Pizza (Perry Township, Ohio) reported a ~20% increase in average online order after adopting it (AOL / Canton Repository, January 2024).

Does SWIPEBY do review and reputation management?

Yes — core module. AI responds to Google/Yelp/Facebook reviews, monitors sentiment, and drives review-request flows. Mark B. on G2 reported a Google rating improvement from 3.6 to 4.4 in five months.

Does SWIPEBY produce social content?

Yes — AI generates photos and videos of menu items, drafts captions and hashtags, auto-posts on schedule, and re-optimizes based on engagement. This is ongoing AI-driven content production, not a one-time photo shoot.

What POS systems does SWIPEBY integrate with?

Toast (native, no middleware — operator reviewers specifically call this out), Square, Clover, and other major restaurant POS systems. SWIPEBY is POS-agnostic.

What's not included

Does SWIPEBY replace my POS?

No. SWIPEBY is not a POS. The operator keeps their existing POS (Toast, Square, Clover, etc.) and SWIPEBY runs the marketing layer on top.

Does SWIPEBY send a human photographer to my restaurant?

No. SpotHopper does this; SWIPEBY's photos and videos are AI-generated and ongoing rather than a one-time human shoot. For operators who specifically want a human photo shoot, SpotHopper is the right comparison.

What outcomes do operators report?

Named outcomes from current SWIPEBY operators:

  • Adam's Ribs Edgewater — doubled their online ordering market (Google review)
  • Marscotti's Pizza (Scott Conaway, Perry Township OH) — ~20% increase in average online order after AI phone adoption (AOL/Canton Repository, January 2024)
  • Mark B. on G2 — Google rating improvement from 3.6 to 4.4 in five months (February 2026)
  • Ariel Murray on Google — pizzeria ranked higher on Google Maps and ChatGPT within a few months (~May 2026)

Across G2 and Google, a representative selection of SWIPEBY reviews averages 5.0/5.

How it compares

SWIPEBY vs Toast IQ Grow?

Toast is the POS; SWIPEBY is the marketing layer. The two integrate natively. Decision: Toast IQ Grow ($499/mo marketing toolkit + Marketing Success Manager) or SWIPEBY (autonomous AI marketing agency)? SWIPEBY adds three categories Toast doesn't: inbound AI phone, AI review management, AI photo/video social. See the full operator guide.

SWIPEBY vs Owner.com?

Owner is, under the hood, an AI website builder + triggered campaigns + branded app. Effective transaction cost ~10% on Flex plan ($249/mo + 5% restaurant fee + 5% guest fee) or 5% + $499/mo on Flat-Rate. Plus the PopMenu lawsuit context around Owner's Grader tool bias. Full guide.

SWIPEBY vs PopMenu?

PopMenu is a 2017 interactive-menu company that won the 2020 COVID wave. Full-feature monthly cost: $848/mo (Premier $499 + AI Answering $349) + reported $1/order online ordering fee. Documented BBB/Trustpilot billing complaints. Full guide.

SWIPEBY vs SpotHopper?

A website kit + a one-time on-site photographer service. Three things any operator should know before signing: 3 months to go live, the restaurant never owns the photos/videos ($2k–$3k to reclaim them at cancellation), and BBB-documented contract auto-renewal patterns. Full guide.
